DOMINIQUE CHAPMAN

Dominique is a freelance theatre director, writer and facilitator. She was selected as one of only three directors to complete the brand new resident MA programme in Theatre Directing at the Orange Tree Theatre in association with St Mary’s University. During her residency at the Orange Tree in 2017-18, Dominique directed Precious Little Talent by Ella Hickson and assisted Guy Jones on Joe White’s critically acclaimed debut play Mayfly. She originally graduated with a First Class degree in Drama and English & American Literature from the University of Kent. Dominique also undertook a year abroad at the University of California Berkeley where she graduated with a diploma in Directing and Theatre Studies. Her background is also in professional singing and dance, after training as a performer at the London School of Musical Theatre in 2015. She has since worked as an Education Practitioner for Shakespeare’s Globe. Her other directing credits include Macbeth, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Trojan Women and The 25th Annual Putnham County Spelling Bee for the Zellerbach Theatre, Berkeley.

“If the directors taking part in the Directors’ Festival at The Orange Tree are the future of theatre, then we can expect some exciting times ahead. In the hands of Dominique Chapman, Precious Little Talent shines as bright as New York’s Chrysler Building.” The Reviews Hub – 5 Stars – (Precious Little Talent at the Orange Tree Theatre.)
