Medical Drama THE GOOD DOCTOR has been picked up for series by ABC, featuring Chuku Modu as ‘Dr Jared Unger’.
THE GOOD DOCTOR is created by David Shore (House), centres on Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.
The series is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios. Shore is writer and executive producer. Seth Gordon directed the pilot and is also an executive producer.
SyFy has officially picked up Superman prequel KRYPTON for series, starring Ian McElhinney as ‘Val El’.
The DC Comics series is set two generations before Superman ever heads to Earth, and follows Kal-El’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos. The series comes from producers David Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow).
Also in the cast are Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (Will), Aaron Pierre (Tennison).
KRYPTON joins the 2017-2018 line-up that includes The Expanse, The Magicians, Killjoys, Channel Zero and 12 Monkeys.
Ryan O’Gorman will play ‘John’ in the UK Tour of hit musical MISS SAIGON.
The cast also include Marsha Songcome (‘Gigi’), Red Concepcion (‘The Engineer’), Sooha Kim (‘Kim’), Ashley Gilmour (‘Chris’), Zoë Doano (‘Ellen’) and Gerald Santos (‘Thuy’).
Winner of a record-breaking nine Whatsonstage Awards 2015 including Best Show, this epic love story tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
MISS SAIGON runs at Leicester Curve from 1 to 22 July before embarking on a UK tour.
